Jogos de poder nas sombras: a influência oculta dos traços sombrios para a pesquisa em folga orçamentária

Objetivo: Discutir criticamente as evidências empíricas, nacionais e internacionais, acerca da influência dos traços de personalidade da tríade sombria na constituição de folga orçamentária.
Método: Este estudo adota uma abordagem qualitativa por meio de uma revisão da literatura. Para tanto, a busca foi restrita a artigos científicos publicados em periódicos em sete diferentes bases de dados, culminando na seleção e análise de nove estudos.
Resultados: Os resultados indicam que o maquiavelismo está relacionado à maior criação de folga orçamentária, tanto de forma direta quanto indireta, uma vez que esse traço predispõe o indivíduo à manipulação estratégica da informação e à priorização do autointeresse. Embora com menor intensidade, os efeitos do narcisismo e da psicopatia também foram identificados nas investigações que consideraram a tríade sombria como uma variável agregada. Observam-se, contudo, motivações distintas: o narcisismo impulsiona a autopromoção e a preservação da imagem, enquanto a psicopatia está associada a atitudes marcadas por impulsividade, frieza emocional e indiferença às consequências éticas. Em suma, as evidências disponíveis indicam que os traços da tríade sombria apresentam uma predisposição comum à adoção de práticas orçamentárias manipulativas por meio da criação de folga orçamentária.
Contribuições: O estudo contribui para a literatura de controle gerencial ao consolidar as evidências empíricas acerca da influência dos traços de personalidade da tríade sombria na constituição da folga orçamentária. Ao integrar a perspectiva da psicologia da personalidade à contabilidade gerencial, a pesquisa sistematiza o estado da arte, identifica lacunas e evidencia o papel de fatores intervenientes na materialização da folga orçamentária. Adicionalmente, propõe-se uma agenda de pesquisa que orienta investigações futuras e subsidia o desenvolvimento de mecanismos de controle mais eficazes e menos suscetíveis à manipulação associada a perfis gerenciais sombrios.
